The Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovations is hosting the secretariat of the Change Alliance. The Change Alliance is an emerging global network of organizations and practitioners working to enhance the impact of multi-stakeholder processes for sustainability and good governance. The alliance emerged because of the conviction that there is need to further develop knowledge about and application of such processes, because they hold great promise for addressing many critical issues. Over 50 organisations worldwide have indicated interest in membership.
The Change Alliance and Southern Africa Trust, a Change Alliance member, are starting a project to sustain on-going processes in Africa through the creation and establishment of a MSP Network of Practice. A two-day event is being planned for 24-25 April in South Africa, focusing on MSPs for systemic social change. The event will be followed by a three years project period to establish a regional Hub in Johannesburg and an MSP Network of Practice in Africa.
MOPAN
As announced earlier on this website, the 9th Annual Conference on Multi-Organisational Partnerships, Alliances and Networks (MOPAN) will be organized from July 2-4 in Wageningen, the Netherlands. CDI co-organises this conference with other departments of Wageningen University. The Change Alliance hosts one of the thematic tracks on ‘Power in multi-stakeholder processes for development’. Change Alliance members and CDI colleagues are also active in other thematic tracks.
Learning about ‘Power in MSPs’
The Change Alliance, together with members of the Dutch development organizations umbrella PSO, co-organizes a one-year Thematic Learning Programme on ‘Power in MSPs’. This action learning programme engages participants and their Southern partners around the question how less powerful actors can operate strategically in multi-stakeholder settings and strengthen their positions in MSPs. Work is currently going on in 12 cases in 8 countries.
Furthermore the Change Alliance online learning platform, NING, will continue to be the virtual hub where practitioners, researchers and policy makers meet and exchange. The platform has currently 270 members from a broad variety of organizations and institutions from all over the world. The platform displays upcoming workshops, courses and seminars, and contains the documentation (reports, videos, pictures) of previous events – organized by the Change Alliance, its partners and fellow institutes.
